Abstract

According to the World Bank and UNESCO (2019), more than half of 10-year-old children do not have the ability to read or understand simple texts, that is, more than 600 million and about 300 million who do not achieve minimum capacities to develop reading skills or access to schools respectively. The greatest difficulty in mastering a language is finding an adequate strategy during the learning process. Identify the current state of the scientific production of vocabulary learning strategies through a systematic review. The study yielded 47 articles analyzed, 59.57% come from Asian countries and 85.11% are originally written in English. Most investigations support their work on Schmitt's taxonomy. Pay attention not only to concentrate on conventional type strategies (memory and cognitive).
