Measuring statistical literacy in veterinary medicine students at the Agrarian University of Ecuador: a descriptive study using the CEVET-10
Main Article Content
Abstract
Statistical literacy is a fundamental academic competency in higher education, directly impacting students' capacity for information analysis and interpretation. This descriptive and cross-sectional study measured its level among university students using a validated instrument applied to a sample of 182 participants. The findings indicated a moderate level of development, with prominent weaknesses in descriptive interpretation and probabilistic reasoning. The discussion emphasizes the need to integrate practical applications within real-world contexts during instruction. It is concluded that strengthening these competencies is essential for the comprehensive training and critical thinking of future professionals.
