Therefore, tourism information systems have managed to position themselves as one of the main engines for decision making. In the Puerto Lo?pez Canton of the province of Manabi?, a descriptive study was carried out with the objective of analyzing the components of the tourist information system, which allows to know the current situation and the potential to create a system that helps improve the development of the tourist activity within the canton. Techniques such as semi-structured interviews with key informants, document analysis, observation and statistical methods were used. The results obtained in the research process showed that within the canton there is no information system that regulates tourism activity, and which would help improve income and generate jobs. Finally, it is concluded that the creation of a SIT within the Puerto Lo?pez canton would help improve local development and encourage a large percentage of visitors.
