Vulnerability, poverty and social cohesion in Esmeraldas-Ecuador mapping and geospatial analysis

Abstract
This research was carried out to analyze vulnerability, poverty and criteria of social cohesion, taking as a case study, the neighborhood "June 26" of the urban parish Esmeraldas, belonging to the city of Esmeraldas. For the field research, 60 houses were randomly surveyed, corresponding to a sample of the total population (330 houses). For the information gathering, interviews and closed-question surveys were carried out with the heads of households, in order to know their level of economic income, access to formal education, access to basic services, ownership of their own home and state aid. For the data collection, geographic forms were used that allowed the georeferencing of the surveyed dwellings and the elaboration of maps of the study area through geographic information systems programs.
