Abstract

The Taxo (Passiflora mollisima B.H.K), whose origin has been determined in the Andean area of ??South America, between Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. In Ecuador it is very common to find among the thickets of the cold and temperate forest. Several wild, traditional species have been common to find in the home garden, growing on the dividing walls, climbed on the trees of capulí, molle, eucalyptus, among others or taking advantage of those that are dry or very unproductive; they are also seen forming living fences (Tamayo, 1990). Tungurahua is a province that is located in the Sierra de Ecuador, has an area of ??3,334.8 km2 It was concluded that 100% of Taxo producers in the province under study have an exploitation area between 660 m2 and 28216 m2, which shows that a large percentage of producers manage to grow on surfaces of less than one hectare to obtain economic resources to support the family, 66.7% of Taxo's producers have a lot of 2679m2 with 112 Taxo plants, 12.8% have two lots of 3116m2 each with 104 plants in the garden, 12.8% are three lots of 2262m2 each lot with 84 plants, while 7.7% have four lots of 3099m2 each lot with! 40 plants to cultivate Taxo. The total number of plants planted by the Taxo farmer in the province of study is 6855 plants at the province level.
