Abstract: It is paramount to address the importance of sustained
conservation of natural resources in the environment as a fundamental
approach to preserve biodiversity, maintain climate stability and
ensure the well-being of future generations. It is important to explore
strategies to achieve responsible and equitable management of natural
resources, as well as the key role of environmental education and
collaboration between different social actors. The promotion of
effective policies, innovation and the participation of civil society and
business are fundamental to achieving this objective. In a world
increasingly concerned about environmental challenges, it is critical
to address how we can preserve our natural resources for future
generations, explore the importance of sustained conservation, its
benefits and strategies to achieve this crucial goal.
Keywords: Sustained conservation, natural resources, environment,
biodiversity, environmental education, effective policies.

Introduction
Before diving into sustained conservation, it is essential to understand
the current state of the environment. Unfortunately, we have witnessed
the degradation of ecosystems, the loss of biodiversity and the depletion
of vital resources such as water and soil. The impacts of climate change
are also becoming increasingly evident. The global ecosystem faces
serious challenges that require urgent and coordinated action at the
global level. Currently, there are many paper industries in different
countries that are committed to preserving wood, the main raw material
for paper, as well as reducing the carbon footprint. To this end, paper
recycling policies have been adopted, preventing them from ending up
in the landfill or being incinerated with the consequent emission of
greenhouse gases (Fernandez et al., 2021). If in the last 50 years the
preservation of the environment has become one of the most important
issues in regional and global agendas, environmental education is key
to achieving this goal, being one of the pillars that has the capacity to
redirect and modify citizen behavior in order to achieve a balance
between man and nature (Fiallos, Mendoza, Escobar & Intriago, 2022).
However, with the appearance of the COVID-19 pandemic and in view
of the requirement and obligatory nature of social isolation in all
regions, the goals set in this sense have had to be rethought and the
strategies drawn up by governments and institutions, mainly
educational ones, must include new guidelines to address this new
affectation. (López M. , 2020). The urgency to act is undeniable.
Sustainable conservation of natural resources in the environment
70
Sustained conservation involves the responsible and equitable use of
natural resources, ensuring that the needs of present generations are met
without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their
own needs. It is a holistic approach that seeks to balance human needs
with nature conservation.
According to UNESCO, a study entitled World Conservation Strategy
was published last March, which assesses the current state of the world's
environment and proposes some practical measures for the rational
development and conservation of our planet's resources. The World
Conservation Strategy was prepared by the International Union for
Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), with the advice,
cooperation and financial assistance of the United Nations Environment
Programme (UNEP) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and in
collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United
Nations (FAO) and UNESCO.
Materials and methods
Sustained conservation of natural resources brings numerous benefits.
Environmentally, it ensures the preservation of biodiversity, the
protection of critical habitats and climate stabilization. Socially, it
promotes equity, access to resources for local communities and
improves quality of life. Economically, it fosters job creation and
resilience to global challenges.
It is essential for sustaining life on Earth. Natural resources, such as
water, soil, forests and biodiversity, are fundamental to ecosystems and
the survival of species, including humans. Overexploitation and
depletion of these resources threaten the stability and resilience of the
environment.
Sustainable practices create a healthier, safer and more productive
environment. From a social perspective, sustainable practices help
strengthen social ties, improve people's quality of life and provide hope
for a better future.
3. Result
Promote environmental education: Awareness and education on the
importance of conservation are fundamental to generate a change in
attitude and behavior towards more sustainable practices, it is key to

71
encourage a change in behavior, it is necessary to disseminate
educational programs and awareness campaigns with which the
objective is to make a difference.
According to Lopera and Duque (2019) the educational institutions
themselves must have an academic unit that is at the forefront of
projects and programs of clean energy, environmental responsibility,
reuse and recycling, preservation of resources, which raises the
proposal for changes in management, participation and management of
green universities.
Encourage collaboration among stakeholders: Cooperation among
governments, businesses, non-governmental organizations and local
communities is essential to address large-scale environmental
problems. Partnerships should be established to develop comprehensive
solutions and thus develop effective solutions in the conservation of
natural resources.
Implement effective policies: The implementation of sound and well-
enforced environmental regulations can encourage sustainable practices
in various economic sectors, and compliance is key to promoting this.
Boosting research and technological innovation: Science and
technology play a key role in the search for sustainable solutions.
Investing in research and development can lead to significant advances
in natural resource management.
Challenges and obstacles: We cannot ignore the challenges and
obstacles we face on the road to sustained conservation. Resistance to
change, short-term economic interests and lack of international
cooperation are just some of the barriers to overcome.
5. The path to a sustainable future.
We must reflect on the importance of being able to create a sustainable
future for the next generations, making informed and responsible
decisions in our daily lives, this implies taking measures to ensure that
the needs of the current generation are met without compromising the
possibilities of future generations. To achieve this, it is essential to
address several important challenges and implement the use of
renewable energy by promoting its use, such as clean energy sources
like solar, wind, hydro and geothermal, reducing dependence on fossil
fuels that generate pollution and contribute to climate change. For this

reason, the academy plays a very important role in the preparation of
responsible citizens and leaders with full social awareness, in charge of
projecting and sustaining sustainable societies in some way (Salas,
2021).
4. Conclusions
Emphasize the importance of sustained conservation of natural
resources for environmental sustainability and human well-being.
The sustained conservation of natural resources in the environment is
an impossible task that requires the commitment of all sectors of
society. It is essential to recognize that our survival and quality of life
depend on the balance between human development and the protection
of the natural environment.
Environmental education plays a central role in promoting
environmental awareness and behavioral change towards more
sustainable practices. In addition, collaboration between governments,
communities, organizations and companies is essential to develop
comprehensive and effective solutions for the conservation of natural
resources. The implementation of effective policies and the promotion
of innovation and technology are key to moving towards responsible
management of natural resources and ensuring a sustainable future for
generations to come.
Highlight the need for collective action and commitment to address
environmental challenges. Close with a reflection on the future and the
role that each individual can play in environmental conservation.
"Today more than ever there is a need for transformative education that
achieves profound long-term changes in the understanding of present
and future challenges, aiming to develop a population with a deep and
rooted appreciation of the climate, social, cultural and economic
challenge to lead to greater action and commitment. The time to learn
and act in defense of our planet is now.
